Dr. Nargiz Schmidt is a prosthodontist – a dentist who specializes in reconstructive, aesthetic and implant dentistry.
Prosthodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. It is the dental specialty that encompasses the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of patients’ teeth to improve the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of their teeth when teeth are missing, infected, or when a patient wants an aesthetic upgrade for their teeth.
Dr. Schmidt received her doctoral degree from SUNY at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. In addition to the numerous awards for academic and clinical achievements in pharmacology, clinical dentistry and biochemistry, she devoted two years to private practice as a general dentist before making the decision to become a prosthodontist. At that point in her career, Dr. Schmidt learned as much as possible about the art and science of prosthodontics and aesthetic dentistry from some of the best specialists in the country. Following the completion of the three-year full-time program at NYU’s Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics, Dr. Schmidt received her certification as a prosthodontist.
Always with a desire to share knowledge and teach others, Dr. Schmidt stayed at NYU for another two years after her certification as a visiting professor to teach clinical prosthodontics. Even today, she shares her time between private practice and her responsibilities as an international speaker on the topic of lumineers and aesthetic dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Prosthodontics, the Northeastern Society of Prosthodontics, the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and the American College of Prosthodontics.
With her vast knowledge in complex dental restorations and rehabilitation, Dr. Schmidt often serves as a consultant to general dentists and other dental specialists. She is a frequent lecturer and seminar leader for dentists as well as post-graduate dental students throughout the US, Europe and the Middle East on her topics of specialty: lumineers and aesthetics dentistry. In March 2014, she received an award as the best lecturer on a topic of non-invasive dental aesthetics in Budapest.
Dr. Schmidt has devoted her career to learning everything about, and advancing, innovative dental techniques and materials. Her combination of cutting-edge dental technology, along with her vast experience and her artistic eye, means that she can transform a smile painlessly and without any removal of tooth structure. Along with a sophisticated and high quality dental office and in-house lab, she brings a level of personalized service to each patient with compassion and care. She will listen to your concerns and will address each and every of them in her treatment.
Long before becoming a student of dental studies, Dr. Schmidt learned to play classical piano and performed as a professional in recital halls in Europe and the US. When she has extra time on her hands, she enjoys composing music for the piano.
