The History of Brooklyn

Brooklyn, New York is has gone through a major rebirth in the last several years. It not only is the most populous borough it is also one of the most popular. Brooklyn is home to some of the coolest New York attractions and also boasts a very rich history Brooklyn.

Europeans settled Brooklyn as long as 350 years ago. Brooklyn was first founded by the Dutch and was called “Breukelen” or bridge. Brooklyn fell out of control of the Dutch and into the British’s hands in 1664. The British were the first to recognize Brooklyn as its own entity or city.

Brooklyn became and important part of the Revolutionary War. The American’s fortified Brooklyn and especially Brooklyn Heights. However, the British gained control of all of New York Harbor. This area became the stage for much conflict between the British and Americans. Finally, after the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783, the British left New York Harbor and Brooklyn became part of the official America.

After the Revolutionary War, Brooklyn became an urban city. The people of Brooklyn worked hard to create a city that was both modern and well designed. Independence has always been important to the city of Brooklyn. Brooklyn has become a city rich in culture, architecture, and strength.
